Yara Shahidi was born on 10 February 2000 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the U.S. as a daughter of father, Afshin Shahidi, a photographer and mother, Keri Shahidi. She also has a younger sister, “Sayeed Shahidi,” a child actor and model and has one younger brother whose name is “Ehsan.” One of the famous rappers, “Nas,” is also known as her cousin.

Keri revealed her name where Yara means someone close to your heart, and Sayeed means “Blessing and Eshan means to act everything thinking that the God is watching to us, which is the meaning in Persian.

In 2017, she was graduated from “Dwight School,” and in 2018, she joined Harvard University and made plans to study taking major in Interdisciplinary Sociology and African American Studies. She graduated from Harvard in May 2022, having attended part-time while continuing to act.

Yara Shahidi started her career after working in television commercials and also print advertisement for companies which includes “McDonald’s,” “Ralph Lauren,” “Target,” “GapKids,” “Disney,” “Guess Kids” and “The Children’s Place” when she was only six years old. At that time, she used to work in several print and broadcast campaigns with her mother and her younger brother.

In 2009, she was cast in an American comedy movie, “Imagine That,” where she played opposite of Eddie Murphy, who is an American actor, comedian, and singer. After that, she was nominated for the Young Artist Award, which was received for the best performance in a feature film category. Further, she showed herself in the Angelina Jolie movie “Salt,” which is an action thriller movie of the year 2010, where she was seen playing the next door neighbor’s role.  Later, she was seen playing President William Johnson’s daughter as a Chloe Johnson in the television series “The First Family,” which is an American sitcom of the year 2012.

Later, Yara Shahidi was seen in the sitcom “Black-ish,” which was broadcasted on ABC in September 2014, where she was seen as a 14-years-old- Zoey Johnson. In the year 2014 December, she was able to win an NAACP Image Award for the category of “Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy,” which was a significant achievement for her acting career.

Further, she had made a contract for modeling with New York’s Woman Management in 2016, a modeling agency where it provides a platform to seek more women of color.

Later, it was stated that Yara Shahidi was seen in playing in the sitcom “Grown-ish,” which was known as a spin-off of the ABC series “Black-ish,” which was broadcasted in Freeform. The series “Grown-ish” was premiered on the date of January 3, 2018.

After appearing in lots of movies and series, Yara Shahidi was launching their production company after a partnership with her mother, where they named their production company as “7th Sun,” and they made a deal with ABC Studios to broadcast their show on there. Later, it was stated that she would be seen in the upcoming animated musical fantasy adventure drama “Peter Pan,” which was a remake of “The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up.” Sneakerella (2022), and the Disney+ series American Born Chinese (2023). Her production company with her mother, 7th Sun Productions, has continued developing projects for outlets including ABC and Freeform.

As an Activist, Yara Shahidi had founded the Eighteen x 18, where he had to collaborate with the news publisher NowThis where it will encourage those peers to vote for the first time in the upcoming election, which was held on November 6, 2018. She had also been the part of other organizations, including Yara’s Club, where it cooperates with Young Women’s Leadership Network (YWLN), which helps to end poverty.

Her work as an activist received lots of support where Yara Shahidi was also able to notice Michelle Obama and wrote a letter for her and suggested to Harvard University. After that, he had also offered by Teen Vogue to interview Hillary Clinton, who was in 2017.

She also supports Jussie Smollet, wherein the NAACP Image Award said that she was public with Jussie.
