Michael Gambon was born on 19th October of 1940 in the capital city of Ireland, Dublin. His full name is Sir Michael John Gambon, and he is the son of Mary and Edward Gambon. His father was an engineering operative, while his mother was a seamstress. He grew up in a strict Roman Catholic, and his father wanted him to be an honored knighthood.

Gambon served in the altar in St Aloysius Boys’ School, and then later, he joined Crayford Secondary School in North End. He became an engineering technician under the British engineering conglomerate Vickers Armstrong Limited and became qualified at 21.

Michael Gambon made her career debut at the age of 24 after joining the National Theatre Company. His first play performance was Othello in 1962, where he was portrayed as a second gentleman. Since then, he played small roles in other plays like Hamlet, Saint Joan, The Recruiting Officer, Andorra, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, and many others.

He later starred as Othello in the play Othello in 1968 and other plays, namely Macbeth, In Celebration, Henry VIII, and others. In 1979, he was awarded the Olivier Awards nomination after his performance in Betrayal. He also earned his second Olivier Awards nomination in 1983 after his performance in Tales from Hollywood. He was awarded Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1997 after his portrayal of Tom Sergeant in David Hare’s play Skylight.

His other play performances are The Caretaker, A Number, Endgame, Henry IV, Part 1 and Henry IV, Part 2, Celebration, Eh Joe, All That Fall, Pinter One, and others. He earned 3 Olivier Awards for Best Comedy Performance, for Best Actor, and for Best Comedy Performance after his performance in A Chorus of Disapproval, A View from the Bridge, and Man of the Moment, respectively.

Michael Gambon made his film debut in 1965 from the film Othello. He made numerous appearances in the film after that, including The Beast Must Die, Turtle Diary, The Rachel Papers, A Dry White Season, Mobsters, Toys, Clean State, Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale, The Browning Version, The Insider, and many others.

In 2004, Gambon made his breakthrough from the fantasy film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where he portrayed the character of Professor Albus Dumbledore. In 2005, he appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as the same character.
