Gershon was born on 10th June of 1962 in the largest city of California, Los Angeles (L.A) in the U.S. Thus, she is of American nationality. She is the daughter of Mickey Gershon and Stan Gershon with the birth name Gina L. Gershon. She is the youngest daughter of the family and has an older brother and sister.
Gina Gershon grew up in quite a wealthy class family where his father worked in trade and sales while her mother was an interior designer. She grew up in San Fernando Valley with a Jewish family environment. She attended Collier Street Elementary School, and for her secondary education, she joined Woodland Hills Academy. Gershon was already into acting since her time at Beverly Hills High School. She already had her mindset into acting, and to achieve her dream, she joined Emerson College in Boston and then moved to New York University, where she graduated with a degree in Fine Arts.

In 1995, Gershon was nominated for Razzle Award for Worst Actress for her role in the movie Showgirls. Later, she was nominated for Saturn Awards for Best Actress and MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss for her performance in the thriller film Bound, where she portrayed Corky’s character.
After that, Gina Gershon appeared in countless movies like Touch, Face/Off, Palmetto, P.S. I Love You, and so on over the years. She finally landed a promising role in the comedy crime film called Killer Joe, where she portrayed the character of Sharla Smith. Her performance was loved and praised for which she won the Toronto Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also got nominated for Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.
