Early life

Tommy Lee Jones was born on 15th September of 1946 in a city of Texas called San Saba of United States. He is the son of a police officer, Lucille Marie, and an oil field worker, Clyde C. Jones. Jones grew up in Midland of Texas.

Jones finished high school at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland and later received a scholarship in St. Mark’s School of Texas where he graduated in 1969. He later received a scholarship at Harvard College and became friends with Bob Somerby and future Vice President Al Gore. In 1969, he graduated with Bachelor’s degree in English from Harvard. During his time at Harvard, Jones used to play football and as a guard of the team, he was undefeated football team of Harvard in 1968.

Film:

Tommy Lee Jones made his film debut in 1970 with the film Love Story appearing as Hank Simpson. He played other small roles in films like Life Study, Eliza’s Horoscope and played major roles in films like Jackson County Jail, Rolling Thunder, The Betsy. Jones received his first Golden Globe Award nomination for his performance in the biographical film, Coal Miner’s Daughter in 1981.

Following year, Tommy Lee Jones made his breakthrough from the film, The Executioner’s Song where he starred as Gary Gilmore. He was awarded Primetime Emmy Award in 1983 for his performance. He then continued making breakthroughs with the film JFK in 1991 receiving Academy Award nominations and won Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association Award. After his starring role in the film, The Fugitive, he received 6 awards including his name on the Walk of fame in 1994. He was awarded Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and several other awards and nominations for his performance.

Tommy Lee Jones’s further received success from the films, Blown Away, Men in Black, U.S. Marshals, Double Jeopardy, Space Cowboys, The Three Burials of Melquiades, No Country for Old Men, In the Valley of Elah. He went on to play small roles in other tv series like Barnaby Jones, Smash-Up on Interstate 5, Baretta, Family and he also starred in the television film, The Amazing Howard Hughes as Howard Hughes in 1977. He then played in several television films like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Broken Vows, Stranger on My Land, April Morning then he also made his television directorial debut in 1995 with the film, The Good Old Boys where he himself starred as Hewey Calloway.

Tommy Lee Jones is a committed man and is the father of 2 children. He was first committed to actress Katherine Lardner. They tied their knot in 1971 but parted their ways in 1978 after 7 years of marriage without any children. He had a short fling with Lisa Taylor later in 1978. In 1981, he married photographer Kimberlea Cloughley. She gave birth to his first daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones in 1991 and his second son, Austin Leonard Jones in 1982. The couple soon parted their ways in 1996. In 2001, Jones married for the third time a photographer Dawn Laurel-Jones. They don’t have children of their own yet and they currently reside in Terrell Hills of Texas.

He is non-religious and he can speak Spanish fluently.
