Early life

Eugenie was born on 23rd March of 1990 in the Portland Hospital, located in the most extensive and capital city of England, London. Her full name is Princess Eugene, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank. She is born to the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, and Duchess of York, Sarah. Her grandparents are the Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II, and Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip. She was named Eugene Victoria Helena after the 7th day of her birth by her parents, Duke and Duchess of York.

On 23rd December of 1990, the Bishop of Norwich baptized Eugenie in St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, becoming the only British royal member not to be baptized in Lily Font. She was named by James Ogilvy, Susan Ferguson, Louise Blacker, Julia Dodd-Noble, and Captain Alastair Ross, so she has five godparents.

She spent her childhood traveling to different countries with her father and sometimes with both parents even though her parents were already divorced. Despite her parent’s divorce at the age of 6 years old Eugene, she still received love and never felt short on the love of the family to which she expressed how best parents and grandmother she has in the magazine, Tatler, in 2008.

 

At the age of 12, Eugenie was diagnosed with an abnormal curve of the spine called scoliosis and had her surgery in Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. She still has the two small 12-inch titanium rod placed in her back to correct her abnormal spine.

Education and career

In 1992, Princess Eugenie studied for a year in Montessori in Winkfield and transferred to Upton House School to her sister. She studied there for two years and then joined the Coworth Park School until 2001. Eugene then moved to Wiltshire, where she attended Marlborough College another five years, after which she decided to take a year break from her study. In September of 2009, she joined Newcastle University, where she studied English Literature and Art History and graduated with remarkable results in it.

After finishing her graduation, she started working as the auction manager in Paddle8, and after working there for two years, she went on to work in the art gallery in London. She is currently working as the director of Hauser & Wirth after being promoted from associate director back in 2017.

 

Activities

Princess Eugenie is involved in various charitable and social works. Although she doesn’t receive any allowance from the Queen, she is better off on her own. She serves as an ambassador for various non- profit organizations like Children in Crisis and Teenage Cancer Trust.

In 2008, Eugenie opened her non-profit organization in Leeds called Teenage Cancer Trust to support young people with cancer. She also made her first patronage in 2012 for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital’s redevelopment.

Princess Eugenie also designed and created a bracelet collaborating with the jewelry brand named Daisy London, which was for the charity and was the limited design. Along with her older sister, Princess Eugenie, she represented herself as the Queen in various events.

In 2016 the month of June, she signed the patronage for the charity organization called Teenage Cancer Trust. She has signed patronage for many other non-profit organizations like Coronet Theatre, Elephant Family, Tate Young Patrons, etc. The following year, she served as the ambassador for various other projects focusing on protecting the ocean, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, etc. She also became the spokesperson for her company and made her speech discussing human trafficking, modern slavery, and other violence.

Princess Eugenie signed the patronage with another non-profit organization named Anti-Slavery International at the end of 2019. As of 2020, it is said that along with her husband, and she is providing aid during the COVID-19 pandemic to the Christian church, The Salvation Army.

Marriage

The announcement for Eugenie’s engagement with her long-time boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, was made on 22nd January of 2018, and they got engaged after a few months in Nicaragua. Princess Eugenie met him in the village called Verbier in Switzerland, where she went with her friend for skiing and was introduced by mutual friends. Her boyfriend proposed to her down on his knees during the holiday after dating for seven years.

They finally got married in 2018 on 12th October in the St George’s Chapel at the Windsor Castle. Her wedding dress was designed to show the scars of the surgery that she had at the age of 12 and created by professional British designers Christopher de Vos and Peter Pilotto. The dress was beautifully made of silk.

The couple hasn’t had any child yet, but they expect to have the first baby soon as per the announcement made on 25th September 2020.

Before being committed to her husband, Princess Eugenie was entitled to “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugene of the York,” but later, it was retitled and styled as “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank.”

Her coat of arms is the sovereign’s arms in the United Kingdom’s right and was adopted on 5th July of 2008. Her supporter includes the crowned lion and an armed unicorn.
