Mycah Hatfield joined the ABC affiliate KATC Communications in Lafayette, Louisiana. Hatfield served there as their full-time news reporter. She was part of various important news coverages like the July 2015 shooting at the Grand Theater, the 2016 historic flooding in South Louisiana, and the Felix Vail court trial while at KATC.
