Childhood
Michael Sheen was born to Irene Thomas and Meyrick on February 5, 1969, in Newport, Wales. His mother was a secretary and his dad was a manager of the British Steel Company. He has Joanne, a younger sister. At the age of 5, the family moved to Wallasey and moved to Port Talbot after three years, where they lived permanently. He studied English, Sociology, and Drama in ‘Blaenbaglan Primary School.’ He pursued his further studies at ‘Neath Port Talbot College.’
He was a strong footballer and was offered a place in the youth team at the age of 12 in Arsenal. He was unable to accept the offer because his family hesitated to move to London. He eventually lost interest in soccer.
Michael Sheen’s acting talent was inherited from his parents, who both performed in local amateur operas and musicals. His dad also worked as a Jack Nicholson professional look-alike. During his childhood, he began to perform with “West Glamorgan Youth Theatre” and “National Youth Theatre,” which probably taught him the complexities of acting as well as work ethic.
