Early Life
Lily Allen’s full name is Lily Rose Beatrice Allen. She was born to parents Keith Allen and Alison Owen in Hammersmith on May 2, 1985. She has two siblings; a younger brother named Alfie and an elder sister named Sarah. Her father is a comedian, and her mother is a film producer.
Her father left them when she was four years old, after which they lived in public housing. In Islington, her family lived with Harry Enfield, who her mother was dating.
She went to 13 different schools and was expelled from many schools for drinking and smoking. Rachel Santesso gave Lily singing lessons during lunch breaks. Later she went on and performed “Baby Mine” in a school show. She reached grade 5 in piano and step 8 in singing.
At the age of 15, she dropped out of school.
Career
Lily Allen worked at a record store and traded MDMA when her family was on vacation in Ibiza. After being rejected by several record labels, she was signed by London Records in 2002. But she left the title afterward.
In 2005, Regal Records signed her and provided her the funding necessary to produce an album. The label didn’t promote her much, so she started a Myspace account and posted the demos there, garnered a lot of attention, and got thousands of fans through it. She dropped two mixtapes to promote her music.
After releasing demos and mixtapes, she teamed up with Greg Kurstin and Mark Ronson to finish the album. The album was released in July of 2006. Its album was titled “Alright, Still.” Her album was released in the United States in January of 2007. It peaked at the number 20 spot on Billboard 200. It sold 520k copies in the USA and 960k copies in the UK.
She performed her songs “LDN” and “Smile” at the show called “Concert for Diana” at Wembley Stadium on July 1, 2007. For the Lily Allen song “Littlest Things,” Ronson, the producer of this song, won a Grammy in 2008.
In 2008, she “Lily Allen and Friends” aired on BBC Three TV. The show revolved around how Allen started her music career through social networking.
In February of 2009, her second studio album, “It’s Not Me, It’s You,” was released. It topped the UK, Australia, and Canada charts and reached number 5 in the US charts. The same year, she started touring. She toured for two years, and her tour was called “It’s Not Me, It’s You World Tour.” Allen teamed with her sister and started their clothing brand called “Lucy in Disguise” in September of 2010.

In 2012, she changed her professional name to Lily Rose Cooper. She featured on the song “True Love” in Pink’s album titled “The Truth About Love.”
In August of 2013, she changed her name to Lily Allen again.
On May 5, she released her album “Sheezus.” The title, according to her, is “a little nod to Kanye West.” In 2016, she went on and established Bank Holiday Records.
After the release of “Sheezus,” Allen went through an identity crisis as she didn’t enjoy making music the music industry wanted her to make. She was bothered continuously by them controlling her choices. She released the album “No Shame” on January 24, 2018. The album revolved around her state of mind, the relationship with her children, marriage, and substance abuse. The album had some mature themes, and this electropop was influenced by reggae and dancehall musically.
She released “My Thoughts Exactly” on September 20, 2018. It is a memoir that deals with various topics like feminism, money, etc.
Personal Life
Lily Allen started dating Ed Simons in September of 2007. She suffered from a miscarriage and lost their baby in January 2008. Their relationship ended after five months.
Sam Cooper and Allen got together in July of 2009. Once again, there were complications during her pregnancy, and the birth was a stillbirth. She was diagnosed with PTSD after this stillbirth.
Allen and Cooper got married on June 11, 2011. They have two children together, Ethel Mary and Marnie Rose. They went through a divorce in June of 2018.
David Harbour and Lily Allen got married on September 7, 2020.
