Early Life
Charlie Day was born on February 9, 1976, in The Bronx, in New York City. He was born as Charles Peckham Day to mother Mary Peckham and his father, Dr. Thomas Charles Day. Charlie has one elder sister named Alice. His father was a professor of music history at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island and his mother was a piano teacher at Pennfield School. His sister also has a Ph.D. in music, which makes Charlie the only one without a degree in music. Due to this family, he started learning Violin and other instruments from an early age of 3. He completed his high school at Portsmouth Abbey School.
Charlie Day later joined Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, and graduated with a degree in Art History in the year 1998. During his time at Merrimack College, he played baseball for the Warriors baseball team. After completing his college, he started doing voiceovers for Independent Film Channel. At that time, he also made his income by waiting table and picking calls at the telethon. Charlie also joined Onstagers, Merrimack’s student theatre organization, and trained there.

Charlie Day is currently married to actress May Elizabeth. They first met with each other in December of 2001 in New York. He stated that he had to arm-wrestle to his friend who was also interested in Ellis and fortunately he won and got a chance to talk to her first. Charlie and Ellis dated for five years before they got engaged. The couple married on March 4, 2006, in New Orleans. They have a son together named Russell Wallace Day who was born on December 15, 2011.
Influenced by his family he is a talented musician and knows how to play multiple instruments. They currently live in Los Angeles, California. In May 2014, Charles gave a speech for the college which he studied and received an honorary Ph.D.
