Early life
Bloom was born on 13th January of 1977 with the birth name Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Copeland Bloom. He is the biological son of Colin Stone and Sonia Constance Josephine, but Bloom thought that his father was Harry Bloom, who was a journalist and novelist. After the death of Harry Bloom, Stone became their legal guardian.
Orlando Bloom belongs to British nationality as he was born in Canterbury of England and grew up with his older sister Samantha Bloom. He joined the St Peter’s Methodist Primary School then joined King’s School for his junior year. He then changed to St Edmund’s School but eventually decided to join the drama school after getting diagnosed with dyslexia. He joined the Fine Arts College, taking the course in drama and photography. He further received a scholarship at the British American Drama Academy after joining National Youth Theatre, which opened the doors for him in various films. Bloom first made his television debut in 1994, making an appearance in the TV series Casualty as Noel Harrison. In 2000, he made a small appearance in the British crime drama, Midsomer Murders as Peter Drinkwater in an episode called “Judgement Day.” He also appeared in the British sitcom called Extras as himself in an episode called “Orlando Bloom” in 2006. In 2011, he appeared in the episode “Dudamel Conducts Tchaikovsky” of LA Phil Live as Romeo. He also appeared in an American comedy-drama called Easy as Tom in 2016.
In 2017, he starred in the TV film Tour de Pharmacy as Juju Peppi and also appeared in 3 episodes of the TV series, Stairway to Stardom the same year.
Bloom landed the leading role in an American fantasy web TV series, Carnival Row. The series was premiered in 2019, and he has portrayed the character of Rycroft Philostrate along with the co-stars Cara Delevingne, Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, and others. As of 2020, the series is still running.

Orlando Bloom made his film debut in 1997, appearing in the British biographical film Wilde as Rentboy. In 2001, he appeared in the war film Black Hawk Down as PFC Todd Blackburn before landing the significant role in the epic fantasy film, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, portraying the character of Legolas. He earned Empire Awards for Best Debut, MTV Movie Awards for Best Breakthrough Performance, and Phoenix Film Critics’ Society Awards for Best Cast. Additionally, he earned Saturn Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Teen Choice Awards nomination.
