Lonnie with Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali’s fourth wife, Lonnie Ali, was a well-known boxing legend. However, she was more than simply the boxer’s obedient wife; she also served as his mentor, caretaker, counselor, and philosopher. Despite this, Lonnie received little attention in Jonathan Eig’s biography of Ali, “Ali: A Life.”

Ali had been married three times before her union with Lonnie. Sonji Roi, a cocktail server, was the subject of his first union. Then, on January 10, 1966, they got a divorce. After that, Ali wed actor Belinda Boyd in August 1967. With her, he had four kids: Maryum, the twins Jamillah and Rasheda, and Muhammad Ali Jr.

The boxer also had an affair with Wanda Bolton, afterward known as Aaisha Ali, from whom their daughter Khaliah was born. Ali married Veronica Porche for the third time, and the couple produced two daughters, Hana and Laila. They divorced in 1986. Lonnie was still married to Veronica when Ali began dating him.

The two first met in 1963 in Louisville, Kentucky, where both Lonnie and Ali were born. At the time, Lonnie was six years old, and the boxing celebrity was 21. At the time, her family had recently relocated to Louisville’s Montclair Villa neighborhood. Marguerite Williams, Ali’s mother, and Lonnie’s mother got along well. They frequently crossed paths at family gatherings. So when she first saw the enormous Ali, she was understandably alarmed.

Nevertheless, they quickly felt at ease with one another. They were married on November 19, 1986. The wedding was held in Harvey Sloane’s private residence, a former mayor of Louisville. They adopted their child Asaad Amin when he was seven years old.

The tale would have been lost to history much sooner if Lonnie hadn’t been in Ali’s life. All of Muhammad Ali’s business and financial affairs were handled by Lonnie as well. Ali already had three marriages. Additionally, he had two extramarital relationships.

Lonnie established G.O.A.T. Inc., which stands for “Greatest of All Time,” in 1992 to oversee Ali’s intellectual property. After combining it for use in commerce, she licensed all of his intellectual property.
