Early Life
She was born to Michael and Leanne McEnany on 18th April 1988 in Tampa. Her father owned a commercial roofing company. She completed her high school studies from the private catholic preparatory school for women, Academy of the Holy Names. After high school, she joined the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and graduated with a degree in international politics. She also went abroad to study in St Edmund Hall at Oxford University, where Nick Thomas-Symonds taught her current shadow home secretary.
She also studied at the University of Miami School of Law and transferred to Harvard Law School. She graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard University in 2016.
Career
While studying at college, Kayleigh McEnany did internships for several political figures, including George W. Bush, Adam Putnam, and Tom Gallagher. She had also worked as a media briefings writer in the White House Office of Communications. Kayleigh started working as a paid commentator at CNN during her Law School years. While Donald Trump first made an appearance as a President’s candidate, she did not like him at all and called him as a showman and an inauthentic Republican. She had also backlashed him for his comments on Mexican Immigrants.
But later, after the advice from Michael Marcantonio, she started supporting Trump in the 2016 Presidential elections. After leaving her position at CNN, she hosted a webcast titled, Real News Update on Donald Trump’s Facebook page. She praised Donald Trump throughout the webcast and called the webcast a real news show.
Kayleigh McEnany was Republican support since her college days and made critical remarks of the Obama presidency. She had posted several tweets questioning Obama’s presidency and supported the “birther” conspiracy theorist movement. She had also made a false tweet about Obama’s golf course visit during the 2002 beheading of journalist Daniel Pearl but later apologized for the tweet.
She was appointed as the National Spokesperson for the Republican National Committee on 17th August 2017. Despite a series of lies and misleading comments made by President Trump, McEnany has defended him every time and has said that the President has never lied. She also defended President while he was facing backlash for his incompetent handling of the COVID pandemic.
Kayleigh McEnany even compared Trump’s work with Obama’s presidency and made remarks on Obama’s term as an awful term. She had also accused the Democrats of politicizing the pandemic. She was later heavily criticized for her comments.
On 7th April 2020, she replaced Stephanie Grisham as the White House Press Secretary for President Donald Trump. Several media criticized her for defending Trump’s misleading remarks only two months into her tenure. She has supported every statement made by Trump during the COVID pandemic, including his argument against the World Health Organization and his view on how injecting disinfectants could treat the coronavirus. She made her first public press briefing as the Press Secretary on 1st May 2020.
Kayleigh McEnany has also published a book titled, “The New American Revolution: The Making of a Populist Movement” in 2018.

Kayleigh McEnany was in a relationship with the baseball pitcher, Sean Gilmartin, since 2015. The couple got married in 2017 and has a daughter from the relationship. Because of developing breast cancer, she had to undergo a double mastectomy surgery in 2018.
