Howard Rollins

Howard Rollins is well-known as an American stage, film, and television actor. He was renowned for his character as Andrew Young in 1978’s King, George Haley in the 1979 miniseries Roots: The Next Generations, Coalhouse Walker Jr. in the 1981 film Ragtime.

Howard Rollins was also known for his character in Captain Davenport in the 1984 film A soldier’s Story and Virgil Tibbs on the T.V. crime drama in the Heat of the Night.

Howard Rollins was born in 1950, on October 17. He was born in New York City, the United States of America. Howard was the son of Henrietta Clies (Mother) and George Brydes Rodney (Father). Howard’s mother works as a domestic worker, and his father works as a steelworker. Unfortunately, his father died in 1980.

Talking about his educational background, Rollins has attended Theater at Towson University.

Career

Howard Rollins is a well-known American stage, film, and television actor. He has started his acting career after he left college to play the character of Slick in the PBS soap opera Our Street in 1970. After four, he transferred to New York City, where he featured in the Broadway productions of We Interrupt This Program, The Mighty Gents, and G.R. Point.

Howard Rollins has also featured in the T.V. miniseries King and Roots: The Next Generations. He has debuted from the movie Dino De Laurentiis/ Milos Forman motion picture Ragtime in 1981. Howard has also appeared in the Heat of the Night in 1988. He has also struggled with addictions to drugs and alcohol.

Rollins was also arrested four times for drug and alcohol-related crimes and spent one month in jail for reckless driving and driving under the influence.

Howard Rollins has also dismissed from the series at the end of season 6 due to his ongoing personal and legal issues. From 1993 to 1994, he returned for several guest appearances in the seventh season of the show. After he was dismissed from In the Heat of the Night, Rollins achieved sobriety and worked on rebuilding his career and reputation.

Howard Rollins has also seen a guest role on New York Undercover, followed by Drunks. Rollins had also seen in a guest character on Remember WENN in 1996. Howard’s last acting character was in the 1996 television movie Harambee.
