Early Life
The Eldest daughter of Robert DeWitt Blanchett Jr and June Blanchett, Cate Blanchett, was born on 14 May 1969. Cate was born in Melbourne, Australia. Her mother was a teacher and property developer, and her father was a Navy who worked in the US Navy and later worked as an advertising executive. She also has one elder brother and a younger sister. Her sister is a theatrical designer, and her brother is a computer system engineer. Blanchett went to Ivanhoe East Primary School. Cate lost her dad at the early age of 10 due to heart failure.
Cate Blanchett completed her high school in Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School and went on to join Methodist Ladies’ College. Blanchett joined the University of Melbourne. She dropped out only a year after. She also used to work at a nursing home during her late teen and early 20s.
