Roberto Gomez Bolanos was born in 1929, on February 21. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico. Presently, he is 93 years old as of 2022. Bolanos is the son of Francisco Gomez Linares (father) and Elsa Bolanos Aguilar (mother). His father is a painter and illustrator, and his mother is a bilingual secretary.
Bolanos had an older brother named Francisco, a younger brother named Horacio Gomez Bolanos, who played the roles of Godinez in El Chavo del Ocho, and an even older half-brother, the product of one of his father’s liaisons with another woman.
Regarding his educational background, Roberto studied mechanical engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico but never came to practice that profession. Instead, he wrote several plays, contributed dialogue to Mexican movie and television scripts, and secured some character-acting work. Roberto Gomez Bolanos’s stage name is Chespirito.
From 1960 to 1965, Bolanos dedicated himself to writing scripts for “Comedians and songs” and “El studio de Pedro Vargas,” the two programs with the highest audience in Mexico.

Career
Roberto Gomez Bolanos was discovered as an actor while waiting in line to apply for a job as a writer; soon, he started writing and starring in his children’s comedy shows. His first show was Los Supergenios de la Mesa Cuadrada, a sketch comedy show that aired in 1968. The program also cast Ramon Valdes, Maria Antonieta de las Nieves, and Ruben Aguirre.
Roberto Gomez Bolanos known were in the shows El Chavo del Ocho and El Chapulin Colorado. The series was aired in 1973 and were based on sketches of the same name from Los Supergenius. The shows were assembled by the Mexican TV network Televisa and published in 124 countries. He played an 8-year-old boy who often refuges inside a wooden rain barrel in a Mexican neighborhood. In El Chapulin, Colorado, Gomez played a good-hearted superhero who got involved in several situations.
Matt Groening has also said that he created the Bumblebee Man character after watching El Chapulin Colorado in a motel on the United States-Mexico border. Bolanos was also noted as a composer. Gomez started writing music as a hobby. However, most of his early musical work was related to his comedy, particularly in occasional Chapulin Colorado of Chavo del Ocho special episodes.
Roberto Gomez Bolanos works include the theme songs for several Mexican films and telenovelas like Alguna Vez Tendremos Alas and La Duena. Roberto is also the creator of the theatre comedy Once Y Doce, the most successful theater comedy in Mexican history; it is still played occasionally.

Cause of Death
Roberto Gomez Bolanos died 2014 on November 28. He died due to heart failure as a complication of Parkinson’s disease at the age of 85 in his home in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Many celebrities, co-stars, and his relatives took to Twitter to express condolences to his widow and family. Roberto is one of the most recognized Spanish-language comedians of the 20th century.
In 2014, on December 1, Roberto Gomez Bolanos was buried at the Pantheon Frances in Mexico City, following a private funeral on Saturday and a public one held on Sunday at Estadio Azteca, attended by over 40,000 fans.
