Riz Ahmed’s full name is Rizwan Ahmed. He was carried on 1 December 1982 in Wembley, London, England to British Pakistani parents from the Muhajir background. The names of his parents are not revealed but it is grasped that his father was a shipping broker. He was born and raised alongside his brother, Kamran Ahmed in England after moving from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

He comes from a family with a rich background as he is a descendant of the first Muslim to ever become the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court during the colonial era who also composed Urdu poetry, Sir Shah Muhammad Suleiman.
