The great sportscaster, Mike completed his academic qualifications from Bayside High School ( located in the Bayside neighborhood of New York City ) and Syracuse University ( located in the University Hill neighborhood of Syracuse ). He has done graduation in Communication from the University of Syracuse. During his school and college days, he showed great enthusiasm in sports like basketball and football.
While tennis and golfs also hold a great position in his career, football and basketball have been a strong point of Tirico. During his college days, he used to be paired up with Tim Brantb, Terry Bowden, Mike Gottfried, and Lee Corso for the College football booth.

Mike’s career started in the year 1991 through ESPN as their sportscaster. He signed a contract with them for 25 years and the contract got expired in 2016. In beginning, he was appointed as a sports center anchor, and later he was affiliated as the sports director in Syracuse, New York City.
It was the time when he was doing his graduate studies at Syracuse University. He was the first host to be seen in ESP News as he had handled play-by-play ESPN’s Thursday night college football package from the year 1997 to the year 2005 along with the college basketball coverage from 2002 and ended in 2016.
He has also hosted the golf coverage from 1997 to 2015. All this while, Tirico has been a prominent figure for both ABC and ESPN. Apart from this, he has also hosted many events like Monday’s Night Countdown and so on.
After the end of his contract with ESPN in 2016, he joined NBC on 9th May of 2016. He made his first appearance on NBC through the NBC golf channel in the 2016 Open Championship. At first, he also served NBC as the studio host and contributor especially during the 2016 Summer Olympics which was held by Rio de Janeiro in August of 2016. Mike also worked as the play-by-play announcer of Thursday Night Football.
After Bob Costas announced his retirement in the February of 2017, Mike started doing his work as his successor. He hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics. Recently, in the year 2019, Mike vocal his first NHL game which was forecasted in NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Hockey.
Mike has hosted many radio episodes too. He has hosted the show WAER in Syracuse, a short-lived The Mike Tirico Show on ESPN Radio, and many more.

Mike exchanged vows with his long-time girlfriend Debbie Tirico in the year 1991. Debbie is also a sportsperson who used to play softballs and basketball for her state. Both of them met at the Syracuse University during their studies. They are blessed with two children and are now living a great life together in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
