However, she defeated him in the 2018 midterm elections and won herself a seat, and served from the month of January in 2019 to the month of November 2019 as the U.S. representative for California’s 25th congressional district.

However, she won the general elections against Republican Steve Knight with 54.4% of the votes. Steve Knight gathered 45.6% votes and was defeated by Katie Hill.
