Gardner also worked hard and was named the new manager in a short time. After that, Jim got an opportunity as a news reporter at WKBW TV. Jim also ran WKBW’s midday news, which became the highest-rated midday news on the market in 1976. Then, in 1976, on June 1, he joined WPVI-TV as a 6 to 11 p.m. action news reporter and host.
