In 1962, in Los Angeles, on a blind date arranged by comedian Buddy Hackett, Ginny Newhart met her future husband Bob. Buddy connected Ginny with Bob after telling her about the comedic actor because Ginny was the babysitter for Hackett’s children.
Although Buddy advised Ginny that she and Bob should be married because they are both Catholics, Ginny first refused to wed a member of the entertainment industry because of the horrors she had seen in her father’s job. However, they finally met and were wed on January 12, 1963.
