After the death of his mother, Robert Dempster Pretty lived with his aunt Elizabeth, and he moved to Hampshire, and they never returned to Tranmer House at Sutton Hoo.

Finally, on June 14, 1988, Robert left this earth in Boldre Lymington Hants. When Martin Carver and his team dug around the Tranmer House at Sutton Hoo, they found a toy spade, pair of Robert’s roller skates buried near the site.

Robert Dempster Pretty inherited his family property after the death of his mother. His mother, Edith, and her sister Elizabeth inherited more than £500,000 – about £16 million in 2006 after her father died in Cape Town during a visit to South Africa in 1925.
