Omar Sy was born on 20 January 1978 in Trappes, IIe-de-France, France as a mother, Mauritanian, and a father, Senegalese. His mother used to work as a house cleaner, and his father used to work in a factory. He was the fourth child among the eight children.

Later, he got married to Helene on 5 July 2007 after living in ten years of relationship, and they have had five children.

After that, he was cast in the TV show “Le Cinema de Jamel,” which was broadcasted on Canal+, and he was seen with Jamel Debbouze. Later, he also created TV shows where he named Le Visiophon, where it was later followed by various TV and stage shows like “Je ne fais pas mon age, Service après-vente des emission and Omer et Fred: le spectacle.
